I believe you are on to something there, It would be very easy for them to say that new light has come from above and shown that the fall of Jerusalem, in fact did occur in 586bc.
They can blame Russel for miscalculating, and they can align themselves with modern archaeology, perhaps opening their doors and windows to further light. Wouldnt be the first time they attempt to cover their arse.
Beside CT wont complain, much of his stuff has been "shelved" anyways. In fact this could be an oppurtunity to rid themselves of the man and say he was involved in the occult and that demons were his source of inspiration and that is why Rutherford did what he did to take over, because he was divinely inspired, and saw an element of truth in the lies the demons shared with Russell.
I remember shaking in my boots during the fall of communism, at the time i was 19 and even though I was ready to abandon the borg, it caused me to hold on for just a bit more, cause i really believed the time of peace and security was beginning.

by unanswered inwith all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.
i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.
i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

oh by the way at the recent ca dbs were mentioned from the platform!!!
the thought was "some jws were visting jehovahs witness discusssion boards and trying to correspond with some"...might not be exactly what was said(not an actual quote)...they mentioned put a doubt in your mind and start questioning your beliefs!!!

with the amount of monitoring that goes on in the hall i would put my money on the fact that they do. . . .
when i was 19, a group of "brothers" from my congregation, including myself, were called into a "meeting", for getting together on sunday afternoons.
after field service, mind you, we would arrange to meet and play football, amongst ourselves and "brothers" of different congregations. . .
seems that our competitive spirit was surfacing and becoming evident in the hall and throughout the circuit. someone must have tipped of the elders about our gatherings, for soon enough these games were bought to a halt. . .
the clincher though was when one of the elders asked me who was spitting on the neighborhood dogs on the way to the park. . .
i was amazed, i really thought jehovah was watching us, for that was the first time i had heard of such delinquent behavior within our group. . .
shortly after we resorted to a healthier activity of drinking and clubbing, figuring that at nite, the dubs should be sleeping. the only way for us to be seen inside a club, would be by another dub who would incriminate himself by telling on us . . . .
it worked, for our attention was never called again, at least not for our new pass time. . .

True Story:
back in 1987-88 there was a couple in the hall i attended that had been courting for about 2-3 years.
about 5 years later they divorced on grounds of adultery. . . .
he remained active and she was df'd. . .
he needed a flatmate and so did i, so we shared one for about a year. . .
mind you, we had been friends since childhood so we knew each other fairly well and had spent most of our youths, in the same congregation. . . .
one day we are home having a few beers and we are talking about life and such, when he decides to share that during the time of his courtship, his girlfriend and he engaged in anal sex so she would reamain a virgin until marriage. . .
